Boarding an air conditioned train from New Delhi takes you to Kalka in 4 hours, the footage of Himalaya. Followed by a 3 hour car journey from Kalka to Shimla.
Exploring Shimla in your motorcycle, today you are going to get familiarized with your motorcycle, a short trip (50 km) around Shimla, “the summer capital of India”.
Your actual road trip starts today. A challenging ride on Hindustan-Tibet Highway to reach Narkanda, a village in deodar forest.
Riding to Sangla, a beautiful village via Kinnaur on NH-22. You will ride along the Sutlej river and Baspa river. Accommodation will be provided in a pleasant camp at the banks of river.
A short ride from Sangla brings you to Chitkul, another tranquil village in Baspa valley. Viewing the snow clad region of Kinnaur and returning to Chitkul.
Riding towards Recong Peo in NH 22 to reach Kalpa where you can enjoy the stunning views of “Kinner Kailash” and also the apple orchards. We will be arranging your permits and passes which are required to visit further. As you are you are going to enter a region devoid of certain amenities like mobile network, provisional etc, you are advised to purchase necessaries here.
Further moving ahead in Hindustan-Tibet highway, you will witness rocky and Barren Mountain. Your first check point is at Spello, your permits will be checked by the cops. From here a 35 km ride takes us to Khab, a small village at the confluence of Sutlej and Spiti. You will be riding along the Spiti river to reach Nako village. Here you will visit your first high altitude lake Nako (3660 M). You will be provided with a comfortable tented camp for accommodation.
Today we are going to enter the Spiti valley by riding down to Chango from the higher mountains. Discovering Tabo a thousand year old monastery and riding towards Kaza.
You are going to stay 2 nights at Kaza, the headquarters of Spiti valley subdivision. Here you can find mobile and internet networks and also other facilities. We will be exploring Gompa and Komic village which is 4275 M high, considered as the highest altitude villages in Asia.
Today you are going to visit the famous Chandra Taal lake after passing a Kunzum La, a high altitude pass. Accommodation will be at a “make-shift” camp-site in “dome” tent.
After breakfast, leaving Chandra Taal and head down to Lahaul valley. The road from Chandra Taal to Gramphu provides most thrilling experiences that you will experience on this trip. It has so many water crossings and streams and it gives a challenging ride. After Gramphu you will head to Jispa.
A pleasant 2 days stay at Jispa, as you are again going to take another adventure ride till you reach Leh.
After crossing Baralacha La (4830 M), an 85 km ride from Jispa takes us to Sarchu. We will visit Suraj Taal another high altitude lake. Accommodation will be provided in a pleasant camp.
Leaving Sarchu, other path takes you deeper in Himalayas and we are getting far from any human settlements. Crossing another two high passes Nakee La 4905M and Lachlung La 5095M you will reach the vast expanse of plain area called “the morey plains” which stretches for almost 35 km. Finally, you’ll reach Tso Kar (4524 M), the third high altitude lake on this tour.
Today we are riding towards Leh the administrative head quarters of Ladakh in Leh-Manali highway where you will cross Taglang la pass (5359 M).
This day is dedicated for you to explore Leh and for relaxation.
Leaving Leh and leading to Pangong Tso via Chang La pass (5289 M), this path take you deeper in Himalayas and barring some temporary “tent restaurants”, truck stops & Indian Army barracks. Pangong Tso is one of the largest brackish lakes in Asia situated at a height of about 4350 M in the Changthang region of Ladakh. Accommodations will be providing in tented camps.
Heading back to Leh via “Paagal Nala” & Chang La.
Leading to Khardung La (5359 M) one of the highest motor able passes in the world and riding towards Deskit and you will finally reach a little village called Hunder. Between Hunder and Deskit lie several kilometres of sand dunes where two-humped bactrian camels graze in the neighbouring "forests" of sea-buckthorn. If you are interested we can visit a 2 km uphill deserted monastery.
Backtracking to Leh via Khardung la pass.
You can once again shop in Leh and discover some of the tourists interest like Shanti stupa or Leh palace.
From Leh airport you will catch a morning flight to New Delhi and it’s the end of the tour.
